Australia Day Honours 2024
ANARE Club President David Dodd has sent congratulations on behalf of the Council and Members of the ANARE Club to David Parer, appointed Officer of the Order of Australia (AO), and to Dr Christine McConnell, awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).
David Parer’s award recognises distinguished service to wildlife cinematography, to literature as an author, and to the environment. David wintered at Mawson in the early 1970s.
Dr Christine McConnell’s work to support her community along with 14 other GPs across Australia has been recognised in the Australia Day Honours List. Dr McConnell was an Antarctic Medical Practitioner at Mawson and Macquarie Island in the early 1990s.
