Phillip Law Medal – 2025 – Max Corry
The Club’s 2024-2025 National Council is pleased to announce that Mr Max Corry of Melbourne, has been awarded the 2025 Phillip Law Medal.
Max, who will be well known to members of the Club, has had an outstanding career in Antarctic science, particularly in the field of early surveying network traverse work behind Mawson and later on the Amery Ice Shelf.
Max was the leader (and now the last man standing), of that legendary 4-man team which manned the year-long underground station on the Amery Ice Shelf in 1968, which still ranks amongst the best survival stories which achieved some major pioneering surveying outcomes of the ANARE years.
Max Corry has devoted years to the administration of the Club and today continues to manage the definitive list of expeditioners who have wintered at our Stations down South since the beginnings of ANARE.
The formal presentation of the Award will be made at the Victorian Branch Mid-Winter Luncheon in Melbourne on Saturday 21 June 2025.
