June 22 2025 was a typically cold and rainy Sunday in Perth where twenty brave souls gathered at the Guildford Hotel for the annual Antarctic midwinter function. This meeting was the first in years instigated by the ANARE Club and including special guests from the Douglas Mawson Family.

Twenty attendees plus food and wine, made for an enjoyable time for all with many yarns being spun (some true) and new friends made, as well as a wealth of Antarctic history right there in the room. Some who were not members of the club decided to join.

Next year we hope to continue the Midwinter celebration probably at the same venue but as a new WA branch under the umbrella of the ANARE Club
