Vale Bill Cowell

With much sadness the ANARE Club Club announces the passing of William (Bill) Cowell on Monday 9 February, 2026.

Bill Cowell was the Cook at Mawson in 1967 and 1969, and at Davis in 1974 and 1987. Bill assisted in the establishment of the Amery Ice Shelf Survey in early 1968 and the completion of the Survey in early 1969. He enjoyed making trips with the dog teams while at Mawson.

Family & friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service for the late Mr William (Bill) Cowell to be held at the William Sheahan Funerals Chapel (cnr High St & Murradoc Rd, Drysdale) on Friday February 20th, 2026 commencing at 11:00am, with a private Cremation to follow.

Bill’s Service will be Livestreamed through the William Sheahan Funerals website.
