Aurora Journal – Summer Edition
Aurora has been collected from the printer and the Packing Shed team are ready! We’ve tried to track down the outstanding subscriptions from members who won’t be reading this, or receiving their Aurora. If you know of somebody in that boat, get them to contact the Membership Team quickly and we will see what we can do!
Next Online Event!
Our Online Events continue in December, hosted by the ANARE Club’s Queensland Branch.
Trevor Hamley will give a presentation on Thursday 12 December, 7pm AEDT (6pm in Queensland) about his 3,000 km Soviet Antarctic traverse from Mirny to Dome C in 1983, including a visit to Vostok, the coldest place on earth!

ANARE Club Pennant Update
The acquisition of the ANARE Pennant into the National Antarctic Heritage Collection is progressing. In correspondence with Club Member Rob Nash the Museum’s Curatorial and Conservation Team have given a great deal of thought to how best the Collection can be cared for. Acceptance of the Club’s donation is currently being formalised. Refer to pages 6-7 in the December Aurora for a full pennant project update by Rob Nash.
NZAS Meeting
The ANARE Club National Council recently held its inaugural meeting with representatives of the New Zealand Antarctic Society. The meeting was a great success and we look forward to further collaboration and mutual growth strategies.
ANARE Club Membership
Our membership is growing! We are already recruiting 2025 expeditioners after a successful 2024 campaign. A combination of initiatives by the Membership Team has our current membership number at 671 and climbing, approaching a 10-year high.
