With much sadness, the ANARE Club advises that David Edwardes passed away on 12 July 2025
David Edwardes was the Medical Officer at Macquarie Island in 1966
and was also at Macquarie a couple of years later as the MO during the summer.

Medical Officer, Macquarie Island, 1966
David graduated from Adelaide University medical school. In the years following he spent time working in Adelaide and in the Northern Territory, along with two trips to Macquarie Island (1966 and a subsequent summer), before completing his surgery specialisation in Ireland.
He played league football for South Adelaide in the SANFL, debuting at the age of 18 years.
He leaves behind one daughter Lorelei, and three sons Roly, Sam, and Monty, and 11 grandchildren.
