Invitation to RSV 8 November 2018

Dear Members,

The President of the Royal Society of Victoria has extended a warm invitation to// all ANARE Club members to attend an Address on
AUSTRALIA’S ANTARCTIC INTERESTS - THE NEXT TWENTY YEARS, to be given by Charlton Clarke, General Manager, Strategies,
Australian Antarctic Division, on Thursday 8 November 2018 at 7.00pm -8.15 pm.

At 6.00pm prior to the Address, the Club President, Dr Joe Johnson has been invited to Open the Society’s Antarctic Library, in the Phillip Law Room, which includes the Phillip Law Collection.

I would like to encourage as many members as possible to attend this dual function. There has been long standing co-operation between the Society and the Antarctic community, and the Society was the first learned society in the world to encourage Antarctic exploration. Several members of National Council are members of the Society – I was elected to Membership in 1976 – and I am delighted that the Society is continuing to promote Antarctic endeavour. Whilst the aims of the ANARE Club and the RSV are obviously different, we share a common interest in the Antarctic and a joint pride in the contributions our past Patron and the Society's past President, Phillip Garth Law.

All members are cordially invited to register their attendance by clicking on the following internet address and enter a special Promotion code ANARE18, which applies a special discount for the overall function, including a light meal available during the evening.

Joe Johnson, President
